To use Accounting features on Clarra, Users must first be granted Accounting permissions and then assigned Accounting Access within individual Matters.
Having two layers of permissions ensures security and confidentiality, allowing administrators to control whether a User has access to view Accounting information related to a Matter or to see the Accounting section at all.
To Assign Users Accounting Permissions:
- Click on your Profile Icon
- Select “Account Settings”
- Select the “Roles” tab
- Click the three dots to the right of “Standard User”
- Press “View Details”
- Press “Edit” at the bottom of the page
- Scroll up to “Accounting”
- Check the boxes of permissions you wish to grant
- Press “Save”
To Assign Users Accounting Access within a Matter:
- Create a New Matter or Edit the Matter Info of an Existing Matter
- Scroll to “Matter Access”

Select who will have view and edit access for the Matter from the following options
- All Active Users
- All Active Users Except specified Users
- Manually Selected Individual Users
- The Matter’s Team Members
- User Groups, which allow you to assign multiple Users access at once. Learn more about creating User Groups in our article here.
- Scroll to “Accounting Access”

Select who will have view and edit access to Accounting for the Matter from the following options. Users must be assigned Matter Access to have Accounting Access.
- All Active Users with access to the Matter
- All Active Users with Matter Access except specified Users
- Manually Selected Individual Users with Matter Access
- The Matter’s Team Members

- Scroll to the bottom and press “Save”
