Modifying Properties on Clarra enables a versatile and specialized experience, built on a foundation of no-code customization. Users are able to modify virtually every Property, and the process for doing so is essentially uniform.
There are three main categories of Properties — System, Global, and Custom.
- System Properties allow you to customize specific sections of Clarra. Broken down by section, System Properties can be edited to affect the options available on each page. System Properties are the most common Property type on Clarra, and we’ll show you how to edit them below.
- Global Properties are more transformative in their scope. Modifying a Global Property enacts changes across Clarra, and can have a significant impact on how you use the platform. Some Global Properties can only be renamed, while others can be configured in a variety of ways.
- Custom Properties, or Custom Fields, are Properties created by Users. These are additional Properties that Users with permission can add to the Matter Info, Plaintiffs, and Contacts pages.
System Properties are accessed via the Properties page, and organized by their given section, from Matters to Accounting. Here, you can change what fields are called and the options available in dropdown menus. Editing Properties is simple, and after just a couple of clicks, you’ll be a pro!
Let’s dive into the two ways to edit System Properties — Editing Options and Renaming Properties.
There are three ways to Edit Options in System Properties
- Adding Options
- Editing Existing Options
- Deleting Options
Adding Options
The main type of System Property edits you’ll make will be to add options to dropdown menus. Whether you’re adding a new Court as part of a Matter, or Service Type for ClarraDocs, the process is basically the same. Let’s try out each of those examples.
Add a New Court:
- Click on your Profile Icon and select “Properties” in the dropdown menu
- Go to the “Matters” tab
- Scroll to or search for “Courts”
- Click the three dots on the right and press “Edit”
- Press “+ Add Option”
- Write the name of the new Court in “Enter Value”
- Scroll down and press “Save” to add the new Court
Add a new Service Type:
- Click on your Profile Icon and select “Properties” in the dropdown menu
- Go to the “ClarraDocs” tab
- Click the three dots to the right of “Service Type” and press “Edit”
- Select “Add Option”
- Write the name of the new Service Type in “Enter Value”
- Scroll down and press “Save”
Editing Existing Options
Editing Existing Options follows a very similar format as Adding Options, with just a slight change.
Edit Existing Courts:
- Click on your Profile Icon and select “Properties” in the dropdown menu
- Go to the “Matters” tab
- Scroll to or search for “Courts”
- Click the three dots on the right and press “Edit”
- Select the text of the Court you wish to change
- Write the name of the new Court
- Scroll down and click “Save”
Deleting Options
As with Editing Options, Deleting Options mirrors most of the same steps.
Delete a Court:
- Click on your Profile Icon and select “Properties” in the dropdown menu
- Go to the “Matters” tab
- Scroll to or search for “Courts”
- Click the three dots on the right and press “Edit”
- Press the trash can icon to the right of the Court you wish to delete
- Scroll down and click “Save”
Renaming Properties
You can also rename certain Properties in Clarra to better fit your company’s terminology. Let’s say you want to change “Paralegal” to “Assistant”:
- Click on your Profile Icon and select “Properties” in the dropdown menu
- Go to the “Matters” tab
- Scroll to or search for “Paralegal”
- Select the three dots on the right and click “Rename”
- Enter the new name, “Assistant”, in “Change To”
- Press “Save” to finalize the change
