With your first Matter created, you can now create Events to link to that Matter.
First, navigate to a New Event. There are three ways to do so:
- Press the “+” on the top right corner of any page
- Select “+ New Event”
Or
- Select “Matters” on the left side of the screen
- Click on the calendar icon of the Matter the Event will be linked with
- Click “+ New Event”
Or
- Select “Events” on the left side of the screen
- Click “+ New Event” in the top right corner, below your Profile Icon
Next, fill in the required fields. While not required, you can also add an unlimited number of Reminders as well as Notes, and attach relevant Files.
- Choose the Event Type:
- Appointments have a start time and duration, and appear on your calendar.
- Deadlines can be all-day Events or have a cut-off time. All-day Events appear on the top part of your calendar, while deadlines with a cut-off time appear on your calendar at the cut-off time.
- Tasks appear on your calendar similar to deadlines, as either all-day Events or with a specified cut-off time.
- Choose whether the Event is a Milestone or not:
- Milestones are Events of particular importance that will also appear in their own tab of fellow key events. Learn more in our article about Milestones.
- Choose an Event Code
- Select the Date of the Event
- Select the Time of the Event
- Specify the Duration of the Event
- Confirm the Time Zone of the Event
- Select whether or not it is a Recurring Event
- Choose a Reminder for the Event (as many as you prefer)
- Write a Description of the Event
- Select the Matter the Event is associated with
- Choose which Users are Assigned To the Event
a. Users can be associated with Events in two ways, as Assignees or Followers.
i. Users Assigned To Events are responsible for attending appointments or completing deadlines and tasks. The time of an assigned Event is blocked on their calendar, they will receive reminder notifications about assigned Events, and they will receive messages sent to Assignees. Note that Lead Attorneys and Other Attorneys for a Matter are automatically assigned to an Event and can be removed before saving the Event.
ii. Followers see Events they follow on their Calendar, but the time is not blocked out, and they do not receive reminder notifications about the Events nor messages sent to Assignees.
- Confirm the Status of the Event, by default “Not Done”
a. Marking the Status as “Done” will remove the Event from the default Event page and Calendar. You will have to filter for Events marked as “Done” in order to display them on the page
- Scroll down and press Save to create the Event
