Now that you’ve added Users and customized key Properties, you’re ready to create your first Matter.
First, navigate to a New Matter:
- Select “Matters” on the left side of the screen
- Click “+ New Matter” in the top right corner, below your Profile Icon.
Next, fill in the required fields, and include any additional information you deem useful. Matter Number is an auto-generated number for internal use, unique to identify each Matter you create within Clarra, and does not require altering, unless you would like to use your own Matter Number. To use your own Matter Number, simply overwrite the automatic one.
Under Matter Information:
- Give a Name to the Matter
- Select the relevant Matter Type
- Choose the date the Matter was opened
- Auto-populates as the current date, which you can edit if necessary
Under Team Members:
- Select a Lead Attorney
- Select a Docketing User
- Add any additional Team Members
- If you don’t see the team member you’re looking for, add them as a new User.
Under Matter Access:
- Choose which Users have access to the Matter
Under Accounting Access:
- Choose which Users have Accounting access for Timeslips linked to the Matter
Finally:
- Scroll down and press Save to create the new Matter
