Within Clarra, the default Team Member Types have default assignment instructions.
- Lead Attorneys who are part of a Matter are automatically assigned to Events linked with that Matter. This saves time when creating Events, by automatically adding these Users.
- Other Attorneys who are part of a Matter are also automatically assigned to Events linked with that Matter, and do not receive instant Docketing notifications.
- Paralegals who are part of a Matter are not automatically assigned to Events linked with that Matter. They also do not receive instant Docketing notifications.
- Docketing Users receive Docketing Notifications instantly when ClarraDocs associated with an Event are uploaded. These notifications are received either in-app or via email, depending on their selected preferences. The instant notification system allows them to perform necessary calendaring in a timely manner. These users are also notified of rule changes if CalendarRules is enabled. They are part of a closed-loop calendaring system and audit trail that ensures visibility and security throughout the process.
Be aware that renaming Team Member Types, such as changing “Paralegal” to “Secretary” does not change the default assignment instructions. Team Members’ billing rates are also automatically populated based on their User Settings, and can be overridden during Matter creation.
To summarize:
Team Member Type | Automatic Event Assignment | Automatic Docketing Notifications |
Lead Attorneys | Yes | No |
Other Attorneys | Yes | No |
Paralegals | No | No |
Docketing Users | No | Yes |
