To calculate and save related dates, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access the "Save and Calculate Docket" button either from the New Events page or from the Event Details page. Clicking this will open the Docket Calculator.
Step 2: Within the Docket Calculator, certain fields will be pre-filled based on the trigger event information. Ensure the details such as the trigger date, matter, jurisdiction, and method of service (if applicable) are correctly displayed. These fields are editable:
- Matter: Automatically filled with the trigger event’s matter name. If incorrect, search and select the correct matter.
- Jurisdiction: Pre-set based on the matter details page. This determines the rule sets used for calculating related events.
- Trigger Item: Search and select the event that will serve as the basis for calculating related events.
- Trigger Date and Time: Set the date and optionally the time of the trigger event.
- Service Type: If required by the trigger, select the manner of service. This field is enabled based on the jurisdiction and the requirements of the trigger event.
After verifying and editing these details, click the “Calculate” button.
Step 3: Review the automatically generated related events. Select the events you wish to save and proceed by clicking “Next.”
Step 4: The selected events are displayed in chronological order. Assign an Event Type for each and add reminders or make further edits if necessary.
To edit an event, click the pen icon on the right side of the event listing.
Finalize your changes by clicking the “Save” button, and the selected related events will be saved to Clarra.
