Contact Types are designed to categorize Contacts.
Connection Types are designed to describe a Contact’s connection to a linked Matter.
Let’s say you’re adding a New Contact who is a lawyer from another firm serving as co-counsel on one of your cases.
- Their Contact Type could be “Attorney”
- Their Connection Type could be “Co-Counsel”
Here, the Contact Type categorizes who they are, irrespective of the associated Matter, while the Connection Type indicates their relationship to a specific Matter. This helps create a clearer and better organized User experience and is particularly helpful for Contacts connected to multiple Matters.
Tags are a tool used primarily for Contacts and ClarraDocs. They are especially useful in searches and as filters, helping quickly identify information not found in existing categories.
Contact Types, Connection Types, and Tags are all fully customizable, as you can add, edit, and delete options.
- You can customize Contact Types and Connection Types on the Contacts Properties page
- You can customize Tags on the Global Properties page
